Service Opportunities -- HELP WANTED!
Community :
  • PLAN Legal Clinic - Presbyterian Legal Assistance Network (PLAN) – a collaboration of First Presbyterian Church, Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, and volunteer independent attorneys – provides free legal information in clinics four times per month.
  • Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen (tel: 931-645-9020) - located at 215 Foster St. Volunteers needed to cook, serve, and clean up as well as food donations.
  • Room at the Inn - located at 215 Foster St. Volunteers needed for cooking a meal, or spending time with a group of 10 to 12 overnight - only available January through March every year.
  • Service Committee - located at 215 Foster St. Will train volunteers to help people in a financial crisis.
  • Volunteers are needed to pack and distribute Christmas food baskets and angel tree gifts.
  • Donations of money and food are needed for FUEL program for feeding school children.
  • Habitat for Humanity House
    • We will be helping with Habitat for Humanity in the future as they build a 3-bedroom house off Old Russellville Pike.
    • We will be working on Saturdays – and we need a crew of 10-12.
    • Don’t want to use a hammer or saw? We can use cooks to provide lunch and/or snacks for the volunteer workers.
    • Please sign up on the bulletin board to work on-site or to bring food! For more info, contact Steve Gallaher or Ann Waddle.
Congregational Care :
  • People are needed to send cards to homebound and ill.
  • Drivers are needed for transportation to appointments, church, etc.
  • Volunteers are needed to bake cookies for deployed military or college students.
  • Caring individuals needed to provide emergency meals, transportation, adult and child care, running errands for members or their families.
  • Spring Spruce-up!
    • If you know of anyone – church family or friend—who might need help with chores around the house, please have them contact us or sign up on the bulletin board to schedule a Spring Spruce Up visit from FPC!
    • Volunteers are needed to help with the chores—if you can use a broom, a paint brush, or ladder, or if you are just willing to help with some things like changing light bulbs, please sign up on the bulletin board—one list is for help wanted and the other is for volunteer workers! We plan to work on chores and maintenance on our own church buildings on the first Saturday of every May!

  • Volunteers needed to assist with newsletter articles, website updates, advertising to community and church members.
Educational Ministry :
  • Volunteers needed to assist with art projects at church.
  • Help wanted for Vacation Bible School - lead groups, help with snacks, help with children's music, assist with art projects, help design room decorations, assist with check ins, donate food for snacks - only available each June.
Fellowship :
  • Library helper needed to add new books, straighten shelves, return books.
  • Helpers wanted to set tables, food preparation for congregational meals.
